Replacement Inserts vs. Full-Frame Windows
A replacement insert fits inside an existing window frame that is still sound. It can reduce disturbance to the surrounding trim, but it also makes the glass opening slightly smaller.
A full-frame replacement removes the existing frame back to the rough opening. It provides access to the perimeter for inspection and allows the jamb, sill, flashing, insulation, and trim conditions to be addressed as part of the new installation.

Replacement windows often sit at a different depth than the finished wall. Extension jambs create a clean bridge between the unit and the casing. The trim can then be completed as a picture frame or with a stool-and-apron detail, depending on the style of the home and the trim already in place.

Should I choose replacement inserts or full-frame windows?
Replacement inserts can work when the existing frame is sound and you want to limit disturbance to surrounding finishes. Full-frame replacement is more appropriate when the old frame is deteriorated, the opening needs correction, or the full perimeter should be inspected and rebuilt. We review the existing conditions before recommending either method.
Does window replacement include new interior trim?

What happens if rot is found after the old window is removed?
Accessible damage is noted during the estimate whenever possible. If concealed deterioration is exposed during removal, we document it and review the required repair before proceeding beyond the agreed scope.
Can you match the casing around my other windows?
Usually. We measure the existing casing and compare its width, thickness, profile, and stool detail. If the exact molding is not available, we explain the closest stock option or a built-up alternative before material is ordered.
Do you supply the windows or install homeowner-supplied units?
Either arrangement can be written into the project scope. If you are supplying the units, the size, type, color, handing, jamb depth, and intended installation method should be confirmed before ordering.
